Buibophyllum weberi

from $20.00

Very little is known about this charming compact Bulbo other than the short description from its naming taxonomist in 1914. Found in the Luzon area of the Philippines at about 700m, it grows on mossy limbs in the rainforest. It is a warm grower and will do best above 60 degrees and continuous high humidity, although they can tolerate a few hours of colder temps (we dipped to 48 deg several times this past winter) with no harm done. Their compact nature makes them ideal for amphibian and orchid terrariums. Leaves are reddish when new and green up with age. Up to eight flowers are held on an 8 in umbel above the foliage. I don’t know if they have a noticeable fragrance. Just be advised that the flowers are pollinated by small flies in their natural habitat. We have plants in 2 in (NBS) and 3 in (BS) pots, planted in sphagnum moss to retain moisture. This is a great addition to the Bulbophyllum collector.
